Fun Ideas & Events to Add to Your Wedding!
Looking to make your wedding day a bit more memorable & fun to guests?? I have some tips and ideas to share with you!
Here at Weddings by Weddle, we LOVE weddings!
What makes a wedding even more memorable? When fun, unique, and special little moments are planned that guests will remember for a long time, but will also provide for some incredible photographs & video clips!
I’m going to list a few examples of some of the unique ideas we’ve seen utilized at prior weddings! Feel free to pull from these and steal them for your wedding, if you feel like they would fit the vibe of your big day!
Let’s start with the ever-so-popular, but meaningful Private Last Dance!
After all the guests exit, the DJ plays one final song just for the bride and groom alone in the reception space. It’s a quiet moment to soak in the day together.
Bonus: photographers and videographers often capture emotional, cinematic shots here.
Another fun thing for your reception guests, and something that we offer as a package add-on, is the Vintage Phone Audio Guestbook!
Instead of a traditional guestbook, guests pick up a vintage phone and leave voice messages for the couple.
Examples:
Funny marriage advice
Emotional messages
Drunk late-night speeches from friends
Couples love listening back years later.
A common, but impactful and important thing to do would be a First Touch and Private Vowsbefore the ceremony!
Instead of a first look, the couple stands on opposite sides of a door or wall and holds hands while reading personal vows.
Benefits:
Keeps the surprise for the aisle
Creates emotional photos
Helps calm nerves before the ceremony
Here’s one for the snack-addicts! A Late-Night Snack Bar Surprise!
Around 9–10pm, surprise guests with a fun snack:
Ideas:
Taco bar
Pizza delivery
Donut wall
Soft pretzel station
Late-night sliders
Guests go crazy for this.
An AMAZING idea, and FUN for everyone in attendance, and so memorable you will be wondering how you never thought of this before, a Wedding Day Time Capsule!
Have guests write letters to the couple to be opened on a future anniversary (5, 10, or 20 years).
Include:
Predictions for the couple
Advice
Memories from the wedding day
Seal it in a box with a bottle of wine.
Want a few moments during the reception for some peace & quiet between you and your newly married partner? Try a Private Cake Cutting!
Instead of doing it in front of everyone, the couple sneaks away for a quiet cake cutting together in the kitchen or side room.
More relaxed
Better photos
Less pressure
Let’s talk about a few ideas all at once, that can liven up a party and get the guests engaged and on the dance floor! Let’s chat about some Surprise Entertainment!
Add something unexpected mid-reception:
Examples:
Fire dancers
A magician walking table to table
Live painter painting the ceremony
Flash mob dance with the wedding party
Want some engagement and opportunity for your guests to be creative? Try a Polaroid Guest Wall!
Guests take a Polaroid photo of themselves and pin it to a board with a short message.
By the end of the night, the couple has a giant visual guestbook.
Sometime cute, creative, and fun for guests when they first arrive? Try using resources like Canva to create a Wedding Day Newspaper!
Give guests a custom wedding newspaper when they arrive.
Sections could include:
The couple’s love story
Bridal party bios
Timeline of the day
Fun crossword about the couple
Toast time? Try a Mic-Pass-Toast
Leave a microphone at a table and let guests give 30-second spontaneous messagesthroughout the night.
Sometimes hilarious. Sometimes awkward. But no matter what happens, you’ll enjoy the outcome!
Have a bunch of introverted guests and want them to warm up and interact with each other? Try Table Game Icebreakers!
Put small games on tables:
Examples:
Wedding bingo
Trivia about the couple
“How well do you know the bride & groom?”
Helps guests mingle.
Want something for guests to focus on and enjoy during dinner or reception downtime? Try a Surprise Vow Video, a Photo Music Video, or a Love Story Film!
We offer all of these things as add-ons to packages, and they can be played during dinner while guests enjoy their food. Always meaningful, always emotional!
Couples who include unique moments like these almost always end up with much more meaningful photos and films, because the day isn’t just a timeline — it’s full of real reactions and memories.
Happy Wedding Planning!
