Some are memorable because of the weather.
And then there are wedding days like Alex & Gwen's, where every little moment comes together to create something you'll never forget.
July 3rd, 2026 was one of the hottest days of the summer. Indiana decided to remind everyone exactly what July is capable of, with blazing sunshine and temperatures that made simply standing outside feel like a workout. But if you looked through Alex & Gwen's wedding gallery, you'd never know just how hot it really was.
One of the biggest advantages of having an experienced wedding team is knowing how to work with the weather instead of against it.
Rather than rushing through portraits or leaving everyone standing in the heat, we intentionally planned short photo sessions followed by trips back inside The Ritz Charles Chapel to cool off in the air conditioning. It kept everyone comfortable, prevented shiny faces and sweat from showing up in the photographs, gave us a minute to wipe the condensation from our camera lenses, and allowed us to capture beautiful, relaxed images without anyone feeling miserable.
Sometimes the best wedding-day decision is simply knowing when to take a break.
A Couple Who Made Every Moment Fun
From the moment we arrived, Alex and Gwen were simply a joy to be around.
They never took themselves too seriously. They laughed often, trusted the process, and genuinely enjoyed every minute of the day together. That carefree attitude made photographing them incredibly easy because every smile, every laugh, and every embrace felt completely natural.
But beneath all the laughter was an incredible amount of love.
Private Vows That No One Will Forget
One of our favorite moments of the day happened during their private vow exchange.
It was quiet.
It was intimate.
It was emotional.
There wasn't a dry eye nearby as they read heartfelt promises to one another before the ceremony.
Then came one of the funniest moments of the entire day.
After Alex finished reading his vows and Gwen stepped away for a moment, he quietly pulled me aside and asked,
"How'd I do, Noah? Did I make her cry? Was it good?"
I couldn't help but laugh.
I told him exactly what he wanted to hear—it was perfect.
Those are the moments we love most as wedding photographers and videographers. They're unscripted, genuine, and impossible to recreate.
The Ritz Charles Never Disappoints
If you've never been to The Ritz Charles in Carmel, it's easy to understand why it's one of Indiana's most sought-after wedding venues.
Everything about the venue feels elegant without feeling over-the-top.
Alex and Gwen's décor fit the space perfectly.
Bright, vibrant florals filled the room with color while elegant details created an upscale, timeless atmosphere that felt warm and inviting instead of overly formal. Every table, centerpiece, and decorative touch looked thoughtfully planned, creating a reception space that felt both luxurious and welcoming.
It was absolutely stunning.
Gwen's Dress Was Straight Out of a Fairytale
Gwen may be a petite, tiny little thing, but her wedding dress certainly wasn't.
Layer upon layer of cascading ruffles created an unforgettable silhouette that seemed to float behind her with every step she took.
The contrast between her tiny frame and the enormous, dramatic gown made for some truly breathtaking photographs. Every time the dress caught a breeze or spread across the floor, it looked like something straight out of a storybook.
It was elegant, unique, and perfectly fit her personality.
A Beautiful Ceremony Inside the Chapel
Their ceremony took place inside the beautiful chapel at The Ritz Charles, providing a welcome escape from the summer heat while creating an intimate setting for family and friends.
The ceremony was officiated by Victoria with Marry Me Indy, who did an incredible job.
She has a wonderful way of making ceremonies feel deeply personal instead of simply reading through a script. Every story she shared and every word she spoke reflected Alex and Gwen's relationship in a way that kept guests smiling, laughing, and tearing up throughout the ceremony.
It was heartfelt from beginning to end.
Keeping the Party Going
As temperatures continued climbing outside, DJ Medic kept everything running effortlessly indoors.
A great DJ does so much more than play music, and this wedding was a perfect example of that.
He kept the timeline moving, communicated constantly with our Weddings by Weddle team, coordinated announcements, worked seamlessly with every vendor, and made sure the dance floor stayed full all evening.
Having vendors who work together makes an enormous difference on a wedding day, and DJ Medic was fantastic to collaborate with.
